Promoting British Values at Monks Abbey Primary School

The 'Monks Abbey Way' - our values, ethos and rules - actively promotes British Values in school.  All staff at Monks Abbey strive to ensure that our pupils leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The British Values are:

•    Democracy
•    Rule of Law
•    Individual Liberty
•    Mutual Respect
•    Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

Each term, we focus on one of the Values and explore them through our assembly themes and  Philosophy and PSHE sessions in class:

  • Autumn Term 1 - Democracy
  • Autumn Term 2 - Mutual Respect
  • Spring Term 1 - Individual Liberty
  • Spring Term 2 - Rule of Law
  • Summer Term 1 - Tolerance
  • Summer Term 2 - Monks Abbey Primary School - a great place to learn!
