Mini Monks Learning

Every day at Mini Monks is planned around your child’s learning. Each term we will share the Monks Abbey Early Years termly overview with you and keep you updated about our themes and learning for the week ahead. You will also be able to keep involved with your child’s learning journey with us through the online platform, Tapestry, which we also use to share ideas for ways that you can support your child at home.

The way the planning for all daily activities evolves is by using the Early Years Foundation Stage which sets the standards for learning, development and care of children from Birth to the end of the Reception year at five years old.

The children in our two-year-old provision will learn through both play and more structured activities. We encourage children to be involved in activities planned by adults and those which they have initiated themselves.

The importance of play must never be under-estimated as it is through play that children develop their imagination and communication skills; to share, speak and listen to others; to express their feelings and develop self-control. Through our play based curriculum, we aim to lay the foundations for reading, writing, stimulate each child’s interest and understanding of mathematics and develop their understanding of the world around them. We aim to ensure that your child has fun whilst learning to work together with others, becoming increasingly independent and ready for joining Newstead Abbey, our Nursery provision for three and four year olds.
